This girl is about to head off to her first day of Primary School, excited to learn, as she will always be. A daughter of hard-working, working-class parents, she will be sold on the idea of “stick in at school and get a good job”. She will soon become enchanted by the world of work and become desperate to grow old enough to get a job and earn her own money. Her parents will spark a life-long passion for travel and many hours will be spent dreaming of the next trip abroad.
She will eventually leave school to take a job in an logistics office, where she will excel. Her hard work and positive attitude will see her progress quickly. Through work, she will meet the man that will become her husband, her soul mate, wingman and together they will embark on a journey together, a journey which will see them travel the world to further their financial education. This journey will give her the confidence to quit her job, on the same day as her husband, with their first born on the way, in pursuit of financial freedom and early retirement.
Despite the naysayers, advice from concerned family and friends, and numerous setbacks, this girl will press on, confident in her decisions, committed to the process and convinced success will come. When success comes, she will realise early retirement was her parents dream, and she will commit to pursue her own dreams of building an empire across the World, with her husband.
Today, this girl owns and manages multiple businesses, from offices across the World, she travels, meeting people from different backgrounds, and continues her commitment to personal development and financial education. She works hard to be a role model to her kids, confident that they see what it takes to be successful, and that you can choose your own path.
Why am I sharing my story with you?
Because 70% of girls feel more confident about their futures after hearing from women role models. I’m wanted to be part of the #thislittlegirlisme campaign initiated by Inspiring Girls International to mark #internationaldayofthegirl 2021, 11th October. My story is one of resilience in the face of setbacks, commitment to the plan, and having the confidence to go against the grain, and choose a different path from my family.
